Post-mortem examination on journalist Sarojraj Adhikari has confirmed that he committed suicide by hanging himself in a Kathmandu hotel, according to Nepal Police.

Police found his body hanging from a ceiling fan in a hotel room in Sundhara on Wednesday evening. The search was conducted after his spouse sought the police’s help to find him after he went missing for more than two days. 

The Chief of the Kathmandu District Police Range, SSP Bharat Bahadur Bohara, said that the post-mortem examination – conducted at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Maharajgung - confirmed that Adhikari died as a result of hanging. 

The hotel’s record showed Adhikari stayed at the hotel for three days, according to the police. In his career spanning around two decades, he worked for Kantipur daily, Nepal weekly, Naya Patrika daily and Nepal Live news portal.

An investigative journalist and a writer, he’s also authored several Nepali books, including non-fictions Chakravyuhama Chandrasurya and Jasusiko Jalo and fictions Dhamboji Chok and Rupbajaarki Nora.
