Election materials and security personnel have reached all the polling centres in Khotang for the elections to the House of Representatives (HoR) and Provincial Assemblies on November 20.
The Office of the Chief Returning Officer in Diktel said it dispatched the ballot paper, ballot box, officials and security personnel to all voting stations in Khotang district.
Chief Returning Officer Shubhash Babu Giri said 1,558 officials and 1,800 security personnel had been deployed for the election purpose.
The officials and security personnel have taken 62 election materials, including ballot papers, ballot boxes, voters’ name lists, rubber mats, and stamps.
As well as 136 polling stations, 194 voting centres and two temporary voting centres have been set up in Khotang district for the polling day.
Four ballot boxes have been sent to each voting centre, District Election Officer Rajesh Gautam said. Next, the officials deployed in the voting stations would begin preparations for voting centres and booths.
The District Election Office said 142,792 people are eligible to vote in the district.
The district with an HoR seat and two provincial assembly seats witnessed massive election campaigns in the past two weeks where the ruling alliance and CN (UML)’s candidates are the key contenders.
CPN (Maoist Centre)’s Ram Kumar Pasang is contesting for the HoR seat from the left-democratic alliance, while UML’s Bishal Kumar Bhattarai is into the fray.
Other political parties and independent candidates are also vying for the HoR and provincial assembly seats in Khotang.
Kaski gears up for polls
Similarly, election materials and officials have been deployed in all the polling stations in Kaski district for the elections.
Chief of Gandaki Province Election Office Humnath Parajuli said that the officials had reached all 344 polling centres of all three constituencies along with the election materials.
It is said that 2,752 officials have been assigned to the district for the election.
Likewise, provisions have been made for reporting for the media persons based on the identity cards of the concerned media house.
Similarly, Chief District Officer of Kaski Tek Bahadur KC said that security provisions had been ensured to hold the elections in a free and fearless manner.
Army chopper drops off poll items, officials in upper Dolpa
Election materials, security personnel and officials have been sent in helicopters to 12 polling centres in upper Dolpa, the Election Commission has said.
Of the total 68 polling centres in the district, 22 polling centres are in the upper region.
Chief Returning Officer Baburam Subedi said the election materials and officials were transported by the Nepali Army helicopters in Dolpo Buddha Rural Municipality, Chharka Tang Song Rural Municipality and Shey Phoksundo Rural Municipality.
According to Subedi, the Election Commission has arranged to transport poll materials and officials to 12 polling stations.
On foot, reaching the polling centres in remote parts of the district takes around a week. Besides, there has been heavy snowfall in the upper Dolpa region.
