Elections 2022
Re-polling has started in Shree Shanti Srijana Primary School of Devchuli Municipality of Nawalparsi-1 on Monday morning.
Though the preliminary report of the Election Commission showed re-polling in 15 polling centres, voting was cancelled in four polling centres due to poll violence.
“Few cadres had poured acid on the ballot papers of the proportional representation system of provincial assemblies on Sunday, resulting in its postponement. However, the voting is ongoing peacefully in Nawalparasi-1,” said Surya Prasad Aryal, assistant spokesperson at the Election Commission.
“The Election Commission has directed the election officials in Gulmi, Surkhet, and Bajura to hold another poll within two days. Having said that, we will conduct voting after looking at the current circumstances and security arrangement in these three districts,” added Aryal.
“The security arrangement is slightly poor in Bajura. The security personnel had to open fire yesterday to maintain the law and order during the voting process. But a sad incident happened in which one person died because of the gunshot whereas another person died during a dispute at the polling center,” said Aryal.
“So, we will first check with the security arrangement and then conduct polls as directed by the Election Commission in Bajura, Gulmi, and Surkhet.”
