Suduspaschim spinner Milan Bohara continued his fine form as he took six wickets to guide his team to a 113-run victory over Gandaki Province in the U-19 National Cricket Tournament on Sunday.
Sudurpaschim chose to bat first and scored 213 runs in 49.3 overs. They then wrapped the Gandaki innings for 100 runs in 32.5 overs for their third win in as many outings.
The big margin of victory has put Sudurpaschim on top of the standings, above Bagmati by virtue of a better net rate despite both sides being level on six points.
Sudurpaschim lower-order batter Akash Chand was the highest contributor with the bat, scoring 40 runs in 45 balls with three fours and a six. Captain Anurag Singh scored 37 off 71 balls with four fours and Milan Bohara scored 24 runs off 33 balls with four fours.
Gandaki captain Subas Bhandari removed both openers Deepak Bohara and Bishal Aiyer cheaply for 11 and six runs, respectively. Gajendra Bohara and Sunil Chand were dismissed for 19 runs each. Southpaw Narendra Saud scored 28 runs off 34 balls with four fours and Hemant Dhami added 19 runs.
Subas Bhandari was the peak of Gandaki bowlers, taking three wickets for 30 runs in 10 overs. Sudeep Aryal, Nirtesh Giri, Shishir Bhushal, Sibrin Shrestha, Arjun Kumal and Sachinraj Adhikari all took one wicket each.
In reply, Gandaki openers Govind BK and Arjun Kumal shared 42 runs in 9.2 overs for the first wicket. BK was caught behind by wicketkeeper Sunil Chand for 22 runs off spinner Narendra Saud.
Gandaki were still in a good stead on 65-1 in 14 overs. However, operating form the Chobhar, end orthodox spinner Bohora destroyed Gandaki batting. But they lost nine wickets adding just 35 runs.
Bohara had Arjun Kumal caught by Akash Chand for 20 runs in the 15th over. He then trapped Karan Pangeni leg before for 15 runs.
After Deepak Drume fell short of his ground for two runs, Bohara dismissed Sibrin Shrestha for no score.
The spinner then removed Sachin Adhikari for seven and Sujan Gautam for a duck to complete five wickets. And soon, he bowled Gandaki captain Subas Bhandari for 16 runs to become the first bowler to take six wickets in this tournament.
Akash Chand took two wickets and Narendra Saud took one wicket.
