Traffic police have started mechanical testing of all vehicles plying Rasuwa roads to reduce accidents.
The traffic police have started mechanical testing for the first time to raise awareness of the need to test the vehicle before driving by ending the habit of repairing it only after it breaks down.
Traffic Police Office Rasuwa said the Chyoling Friendship Group Workshop in Dhunche provided free support for the week-long test.
According to Rasuwa Traffic chief Ujjwal Kumar Ghale, the mechanical testing has been started on all types of vehicles plying the Pasanglhamu route under the direction of the Bagmati Province Police Office, Hetauda and the Nepal Police Highway Safety and the Traffic Management Office Ramnagar Chitwan.
During the mechanical testing, which started on December 11, defects were found in half a dozen motorcycles in two days. The vehicle owners have been suggested to operate the vehicles only after complete repair. Rasuwa Traffic chief Ghale said the driver who violates the traffic rules has been taken into action.
The Pasanglhamu route is frequented by vehicles to pick up goods from the Nepal-China border at Nepal's northern Rasuwagadhi. However, most of the vehicles are found to have been travelling without proper road permits, and other necessary documents such as bill book.
Also, many vehicles without specified licence plates carry tourists to scenic locations in the district against the rules. “We’re taking action against such vehicles will be booked,” Ghale said.
