The Vyas Municipality is preparing to set up a labour and employment desk in Tanahu with the objective of educating people going for foreign employment for the first time.
The municipality has taken the initiative to improve the immigration safety of its citizens, taking into account both the opportunities and challenges in the sector. Tanahu ranks 18th among the districts in terms of the number of workers sent abroad.
At an interaction with returnee migrants on International Migrants Day on Sunday, Mayor Baikuntha Neupane announced the establishment of a help desk to handle labour and employment-related issues.
He also stated that preparations were made to support and put into action the plan for establishing the desk from the upcoming municipal assembly.
"The desk will assist in addressing the labour and employment issues confronting returnee migrants. It will also work to help migrant returnees become self-sufficient and entrepreneurs "Neupane continued.
He also mentioned that the municipality has set aside Rs 5 million for the fiscal year to encourage youth entrepreneurship. Nine migrant workers from Tanahu have remained uncontactable.
