Nepal Minute - out of the ordinary

Nepal

The Narayangadh-Muglin road section will be closed for four hours daily beginning Tuesday. Traffic will be stopped for four hours daily to cut the wall for the construction of the bridge on the 33km stretch.

Kiran Karki, project manager of the Nagadhunga-Muglin Road Project West Section, said the road would be closed for four hours (from 11 am to 3 pm).

He said that the vehicular traffic would be stopped for the construction of Simaltal, Kalikhola, Tuin Khola and Chisenji Khola bridges in geographically difficult places. “15 bridges are being constructed in the road section and nine have been completed.”
The bridges on the Narayangadh-Muglin road section are being built with the help of the World Bank at the cost of Rs1.25 billion.

According to the project, the construction of the four bridges had to be cut through a steep hill, as the traffic operation was dangerous, so the project had to stop the traffic. The District Administration Office, Chitwan has advised the public to use an alternative highway at that time.

Passenger vehicles going towards Narayangadh will be stopped from Pandhrakilo Bazaar to Jugedi at 11 am, while goods vehicles will be stopped from Bhateri Jangal to Ramnagar from 10:50 am.

Passenger vehicles from Kathmandu will be stopped from Muglin Bazaar to Manakamana Cable Car Gate and passenger vehicles from Pokhara from Benitar to Marshyangdi Power House will be stopped at 10:55 am.

Cargo vehicles from Kathmandu will be stopped at Lebatar and cargo vehicles from Pokhara will be stopped at Ambukhairahani at 10:45 am.

From 11 am to 3 am, emergency vehicles such as ambulances and fire engines will be allowed to ply the road.
