The PUBG Mobile National LAN finals, which carries a purse of nearly Rs4 million ($30,000), began at Bhrikutimandap Exhibition Hall in Kathmandu on Wednesday.
Sixteen top Nepali gaming outfits are competing for the top honours at the first-ever official gaming contest over Local Area Network (LAN).
The two-day competition is organised by Chinese gaming giant Tencent in conjunction with the Nepal Esports Association (NESA). Tencent is the parent company of Krafton, the developer and game publisher.
While there might have been some gaming events staged in the past, according to NESA, but this is the first instance that a gaming contest is being played over LAN in collaboration with Tencent.
“Sixteen teams have made it to the finals after the month-long online qualifiers,” NESA General Manager Sumin Shrestha told NepalMinute.
The event will be broadcast live on the social media platforms of PUBG Mobile South Asia Esport’s Facebook and Youtube. Besides, PUBG Mobile Nepal is streaming the event live on its channel.
Adding excitement to the fans is a chance to play with the best team in the event. Two persons will be picked among visiting fans through a lucky draw during the event, PUBG wrote in its Facebook post.
