Nepal had a disappointing start to the Central Asian Volleybll Association (CAVA) U-23 Men's Volleyball Championship in Bangladesh, losing 3-0 to the hosts on Thursday.

In the opening match held in the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka, Nepal pushed Bangladesh to the limit in the opening set before going down 26-24. They lost the second at 25-22 and the third at 25-21. 

Sri Lanka and Kyrgyzstan are other teams in the competition. Nepal will now take on Sri Lanka in their second match on Friday.

The team finishing on the top in the round-robin league will face the fourth-placed side in the first semi-final, with the other semi-final featuring second- and third-placed teams. The final will take place on Monday.
