The Kathmandu Valley Development Authority has announced it will be building 10 parks in various locations in three districts for disaster mitigation and climate adaptation.

The authority's information officer and engineer, Saurabh Dhakal, said they had already informed the government about the plan.

According to him, Shali River Park in Shankharapur Municipality, Ghatal Baba Mandir Park in Nagarjuna Municipality, Kageshwari and Navatandham Park in Kageshwari Manohara Municipality, and Champadevi Park in Kirtipur Municipality are slated for construction.

Three parks – Machhindra Udyan in Ward 13, Panchodyan in Ward 21, and Balkumari Udyan in Ward 27 – will be built in the Lalitpur Metropolitan Municipality.

Besides, a plot of public land at Sainbu, Bhainsepati in Ward 25 and will be developed into a park and the public area behind Lubhu Secondary School in Mahalakshmi Municipality-8 Dhungetol of Lalitpur will be turned into a garden, according to the authority.

Similarly, the authority said it would develop public land into green parks in various locations of Bhaktapur in partnership with the local government.

According to the authority, a budget of Rs10 crore has been earmarked for the construction of parks in the three districts.
