The government has decided to set up a customs office at the Pokhara Regional International Airport (PRIA).
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel said that the meeting of the Council of Ministers on Thursday decided to give prior approval for the ‘organization and management (O&M) survey’ to manage the needed human resources to make the best use of the airport.
The DPM and Finance Minister announced that a decision has been made to establish a customs office, a crucial task that must be completed for the airport to be utilised to its fullest capacity.
He said the government is responsible for effectively managing the project and ensuring that the nation derives the greatest possible benefit from it.
The airport, a project of national priority, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on January 1.
DPM Poudel, who is also the government spokesperson, told the news conference on Friday that PRIA was constructed in time despite the Covid-19 pandemic.
