Nepal Minute - out of the ordinary

Nepal

Residents of Sankhamul area of Kathmandu Metropolitan City have held an angry demonstration against KMC, including Mayor Balen Shah.

They’ve demanded an end to what they describe as “bulldozer terror” in Sankhamul area, where KMC has started a road expansion drive.

“What happened to your drive to reclaim encroached parking spaces?” read a question on a banner held the angry residents who demonstrated outside the city hall.

“It’s easy to meet right honourable and honourable [ministers], but why is it so difficult to meet KMC Mayor?”

The demonstrators also protested against KMC use of security force to supress residents.

As well as ending “bulldozer terror”, they demanded that KMC complete all its unfinished tasks, including identification of landless squatters residing in the city.
