Nepal Minute - out of the ordinary

Nepal

If you're planning a cable car ride to the temple of Manakamana, you'll have to put that on hold temporarily, albeit for a good reason: Nepal's first cable car service is transitioning into digital technology.

The cable car service will remain suspended from August 8th till further notice, according to Manakamana Cable Car.

The first phase of work will take about 5-6 weeks, the company said in a statement.

A team of experts from Dopplemayr, Austria, will take up the digitation process.

"We regret any inconvenience caused to our respected visitors and devotees," the statement added.

"The restaurant service located at the bottom station of the cable car shall remain operational, though."
