Nepal-China road link via Rasuwa has been cut-off following a landslide at Banuwa Ghumti area in southern Rasuwa along Pasang Lhamu Highway.
Work is in progress to repair the section affected by landslip, the disruption has affected hundreds of passengers traveling to northern Rasuwa, Nepal-China border, including pilgrims bound for Gosaikunda Lake ahead of Friday’s Janai Purnima or Rakshya Bandhan festival.
Gosaikunda Lake is one of the famous religious sites in the country and draws a large number of devotees who climb up the hills of Langtang National Park to take a holy dip in a freshwater lake during Janai Purnima festival.
The affected road lies between Majhgaun and Banuwa Ghumti in Uttargaya Rural Municipality-5 in the southern part of the Himalayan district.
The landslide caused damage to the settlement in the lower areas as well as caused significant damage to crops. Nobody was hurt or injured.
The police administration said that vehicles available in the locality will be mobilised to help pilgrims commute to Gosaikunda safely.
Saroj Shrestha, a resident of Laharepauwa, said the landslide has occurred along the two kilometres section stretching from the Banuwa Ghumti to the Trishuli River.
