Volunteers of the Red Cross Society, involved in various humanitarian services, have started joining hands in the management of garbage of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), where garbage has remained unattended for days.
They have launched a campaign from this morning where they collect the garbage thrown at the main roads and crossroads of the KMC in plastic bags and send them to landfill site, keeping it in KMC's vehicles.
A total of 50 volunteers associated with Nepal Red Cross Society, Kathmandu branch, are involved in this campaign.
It is said the volunteers would be involved in waste management for two hours daily in the morning.
Newly elected Kathmandu branch president of Nepal Red Cross Society, Shyamkaji Dotel, shared that the campaign would continue for 10 days.
He said, "Garbage of Bagbazaar, Kamaladi, and Putalisadak areas was managed on the first day under the campaign.
The campaign will help to make clean Kathmandu."
