Landslides triggered by monsoon rains have blocked two key highways in central and western Nepal.
Vehicular movement along the Narayanghat-Muglin in Chitwan district was disrupted yet again Friday morning after landslides occurred at two separate locations.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Chitwan, Bijay Raj Pandit, landslides at Kerabari and Atharakilo of the Narayanghat-Muglin road section disrupted the vehicular movement.
The landslides are still quite active owing to continuing monsoon rains, say officials.
DSP Pandit said that coordination is going to clear the landslide and resume the traffic.
A large number of vehicles moving along the route have been stranded after the landslide.
Meanwhile, in Lumbini province, the Palpa-Butwal road section of the Siddhartha Highway has been disrupted yet again due to a landslide near Hiyudekhola of Tinau Rural Municipality-5 in Palpa.
Incessant rains taking place in the area led to a landslip right on the highway at Hiyudekhola.
A diversion was constructed on Thursday to resume the traffic but the rain since last night again damaged the diversion, halting the vehicular movement from 3 am.
Earlier on Thursday afternoon, the diversion was constructed after the landslide damaged some 40 metres road.
Currently, the landslide is still active and moving, according to District Police Office, Palpa.
The Road Division Office, Palpa, stated that the debris will be cleared only after the rain stops.
