Demolition of illegally built structures has begun at Gaighat Bazaar of Triyuga Municipality-11 and 12 in Udayapur.

The campaign to pull down illegally built structures on the public land has begun, said the Mayor of the municipality, Basanta Kumar Basnet.

The maps of the structures were checked by the Municipality's engineers before destroying them, he said.

According to the Deputy Mayor Maheshwori Rai, the demolition took place in the areas including Triyuga Bus Park, a road-section behind Triyuga Model Secondary School, Loktantrik Chowk, Seto Bridge at Gaighat, PG Chowk at Old Gaighat along the Madan Bhandari Highway, and Baruwa Bus Park.

Two weeks ago, a notice was issued asking for the removal of the illegally built structures and municipality resorted to the move after the notice expired, she said.

Similarly, the footpath encroached by vendors on either side of the road between Traffic Chowk of Gaighat bazaar and PG Chowk was cleared, said the municipality.  - RSS
