The Confederation of Nepalese Industries is all set to host the fourth edition of the Nepal Infrastructure Summit on September 8 and 9 at Soaltee Hotel, Kathmandu under a joint initiative with the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport.
The 2019 summit noticed that the economic figures shrank by 2.37 percent in the fiscal year 2076-77 due to the pandemic. But now the country hopes to achieve economic growth of 8 percent in the FY 2079-80, which requires investment in infrastructure.
“We believe the Nepal Infrastructure Summit 2022 will strengthen the idea that investing in infrastructure is the best condition, focusing on economic revival and green infrastructure,” CNI said in a press release statement.
The conference will identify the major obstacles to infrastructure development including transportation, energy, urban development, drinking water and sanitation; government efforts for infrastructure development; and private investments in the infrastructure sector.
With the underlying theme of “Infrastructure for Growth”, it will also conduct in-depth discussions on green, climate-sustainable infrastructure projects that will help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the statement added.
National and international infrastructure experts, investors, representatives of all three levels of government, and representatives of the private sector will have discussions on investment promotion for infrastructure, successful practices of infrastructure development, obstacles to the development of the infrastructure sector and more.
Visitors will also witness presentations from former prime ministers, federal government ministers, state chief ministers, metropolitan mayors, officials of the National Planning Commission, Nepal Rastra Bank, Asian Development Bank, World Bank, and Professors.
Lastly, the conference aims to revive the concept of policy reform on new financial frameworks, foreign direct investment, more involvement of the private sector, technology and digital transformation.
CNI has been organizing the infrastructure summit in collaboration with the government since 2014.
