Nepal started exporting plywood to various countries, including neighbouring India.

The country has exported plywood worth Rs 500 million In the last three months, said Dinesh Chapagain, Secretary at the Nepal Veneer Producers' Association Jhapa. Amidst the growing demand for Nepali plywood, the country has set an export target of Rs 5 billion this year.

Of the 79 registered Nepali plywood industries, 63 are currently exporting their products, Chapagain said. With 16 industries, Jhapa hosts the highest number of plywood industries in the country. 

Meanwhile, President of the Nepal Veneer Producers Association Jhapa, Deepak Pandey, called on the state to extend incentives to the plywood-based industries in the country to promote Nepali plywood products overseas. - RSS
