The Nepal Electricity Authority has completed the construction of 132-KV double circuit Gajryang-Khimti transmission line. The 31-km transmission line, hooked to 105 towers, enables the state utility to connect power from the projects in Khimti and Likhu rivers directly to the national grid.

The transmission line connects the Gajryang of Gokuldhunga Rural Municipality in Ramechhap to Naya Khimti substation at Sankhe (Phulasi) of Manthali Municipality-13 in Ramechhap via Tamakoshi Rural Municipality in Dolakha.

The project has a new substation of 132 KV at Gajryang and a way of 132 KV has been constructed at the Naya Khimti Transmission line.

Three phase power transformers of 132/33 KV, 30 MVA, 33/11 KV and 6/8 MVA have been fixed at the Gajryang substation.

NEA Executive Director Kulman Ghising said infrastructure has been built to evacuate around 200MW electricity.

"We are testing the new transmission line. It will be connected to the national grid within a few days," he said, adding that the new transmission line would help the authority stop the excess electricity from going to waste.

Power produced from 12-MW Upper Khimti and 7-MW Upper Khimti II hydropower projects has currently been connected by making alternative arrangements. The electricity produced from the two projects would be connected to the Garjyang-Khimti transmission line.
