At least 14 people were killed and 24 others injured when a bus met with an accident in Bara district on Thursday morning.

Twelve people died during treatment at the Hetauda Hospital, and two others succumbed to their injuries at Chure Hill and Makawanpur Cooperative hospitals, respectively, said Inspector Balaram Shrestha of the Makawanpur District Police Office. The victims are yet to be identified. 

Twenty-four others who sustained varying degrees of injuries are undergoing treatment in various hospitals in Makwanpur.

The passenger bus registered with Bagmati Pradesh (licence no. 06-001-Kha 0110), en route to Birgung from Narayangadh of Chitwan, crashed near Tin Number Pul in Jitpur Simara-22, along the East-West Highway, according to police.
