The dengue infection rate has continued to rise in Chitwan, with more than 693 new cases being reported over the week.
With that, the number of reported cases in the district has reached 1,026, the Health Office Chitwan said, adding that those figures were based on the data obtained from various hospitals.
According to the office, out of 5,285 people who tested positive for dengue, 693 are from Chitwan. At 406, more men were found to have been infected with the vector-borne disease in the district.
Information officer of the office, Ram KC, said 217 people are from outer districts and 116 people have not disclosed their addresses. Two people have died due to dengue in the district so far.
Of the total recorded cases in the district, 449 are in Bharatpur Metropolitan Municipality, 133 in Ratnanagar Municipality and 63 in Khairhani Municipality, according to the statistics of the office.
Similarly, 36 people in Rapti Municipality, 19 in Madi Municipality, 18 in Kalika Municipality and five in Ichchakamana Rural Municipality have been diagnosed with dengue. Most of the infected are men.
