Life & Health

Senior culture expert and historian Satya Mohan Joshi, who is receiving medical care at a private hospital in Lalitpur, is recovering, according to his doctor.

The 103-year-old was admitted at KIST Medical College and Teaching Hospital, Lalitpur on September 23. He had lost appetite and tested positive for dengue fever.

During the course of the treatment, he was diagnosed with urinary infection and pneumonia. On Monday, he was shifted to the hospital’s intensive care unit.

Dr Suraj Bajracharya, director at the hospital, told NepalMinute.com: “We shifted him to the ICU after his health deteriorated. There are problems with his heartbeats but he is recovering.”

He said Joshi has now begun responding to the questions asked by the medical staff. Earlier he had difficulty in speaking.

Doctors from critical care, anaesthesiology, pulmonology, cardiology, urology, nephrology, physiotherapy and nutrition are involved in his treatment.

In April, Joshi was admitted to the hospital after he had chest pains and problems with urination. He was rushed to the hospital again in June after he complained of chest pain and breathing complications.
