Forty-one Dalit families have been displaced due to landslide risks at Bhujunge of Sandhikharka Municipality-7 in Arghakhanchi district.

According to Ward Chairperson Chura Bahadur KC, as many as 161 members of 41 families are currently taking shelter at  Chandra Prabha Secondary School.

A landslide has already damaged some houses, whereas other houses are at high risk of natural calamity.

"The situation at Bhujunga is grave. The entire settlement has to be shifted to a safer location," said Assistant CDO Meghnath Padhyaya. "Arghakhachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Nepal Red Cross Society have distributed relief to the landslide-affected people." 

President of Arghakhachi chapter of the Nepal Red Cross Society Kushal Bhusal said 20 pieces of blankets and as many mats had been distributed to the displaced Dalit families.

Meanwhile, a person died, and another is missing after being swept away by a stream in the district, said Chief District Officer Shashidhar Ghimire.

A total of 111 families have been displaced in the district due to water-induced disasters this year. - RSS
