Rhino electrocuted in Chitwan
Chitwan National Park is home to nearly 700 rhinos
A rhino has died of electrocution in Chitwan early Thursday morning.
This is the second rhino death recorded in Chitwan this fiscal year which started in July. The rhino died after getting an electric shock from a bare electric-wire fence that was set up at a pig farm near Icharni rivulet of Khairahani Municipality-12 in the district.
Chief Conservation Officer of Chitwan National Park (CNP), Hari Bhandra Acharya, said a male rhino of around six-year-old died after being electrocuted. A team of technicians from CNP has been sent to the incident site. Further investigation into the incident was underway, he shared.
As per the latest data, there are 694 rhinos in the Chitwan National Park. - RSS
