Police have arrested eight suspects involved in stabbing two bouncers, who are identified as employees of Club Platinum, an entertainment venue located at Durbar Marg in Kathmandu.

The eight were made public at a press conference organised by Kathmandu District Police Range. They were involved in attacking the bouncers, identified as Nitesh Rai and Tshering Lama, who are receiving treatment at Trauma Centre.

They were attacked in their heads and limbs with Khukuri, beer bottles and bricks in the wee hours of Tuesday, October 11, near their home at Galkopakha, according to the police. Thereafter the eight fled the scene, and the police rushed Rai and Lama to National Trauma Centre for medical care.

As per the police investigation, the eight had attacked the two according to a plan hatched by one of the gang members. Hours before the attack, they were involved in a pitched battle with another group of youth at Club Platinum, where the bouncers had struggled to neutralise the situation.

In the process, the bouncers had also scuffled with the gang members too. Yet police suspect a long-standing rivalry between the bouncers and some of the attackers.

The eight gang members include Jeevan Tamang, 33; Dorje Sherpa, 27; Binod Tamang, 29; Bikash Shrestha, 28; Rajendra Khatri, 29; Pradip Tamang, 29; Dipen Lama, 32; and Karan Dangol. Dangol had arranged motorcycles for the gang.

Acting on a tip-off, police arrested them from different places in Kathmandu valley and Dolakha. Police also seized three Khukuris, two motorcycles, bricks, and blood-stained clothes from them.
