The Tribhuvan Army Club continued their domination at the ninth National Games, winning gold in the women's and men's 4x400m relay races on Thursday.
The Army team had finished second in the women's 4 x 400 metres event at the Pokhara Stadium, but they won gold after the Armed Police Force were disqualified. The APF were penalised for changing lanes. After the first turn of the second lap in the relay was not completed, the APF changed the lane and the referee said that the race was ineligible.
TAC comprising Saraswati Bhattarai, Jayarani Tharu, Nirmala Thapa and Kalesi Chaudhary won gold by completing the prescribed distance in 4 minutes 02.78 seconds. Lumbini Pradesh comprising of Nisha Tharu, Yakkan Tharu, Aruna Rizal and Ramkumari Tharu won silver medal in 4 minutes 14.80 seconds. Bagmati team consisting of Anju Khadka, Rajina Dulal, Swagata Khaiju, Santoshi Shrestha won bronze with a time of 4 minutes 22.79 seconds.
In the men's 4x400 metres, the Army team of Som Bahadur Kumal, Ram Prasad Tharu, Jeevan Chaudhary and Prakash Danuwar completed the distance in 3 minutes 18.36 seconds for gold.
APF team of Nirapratap Mahato, Ashish Chaudhary, Shivraj Parki and Sandeep Nepali took silver finishing in 3 minutes 25.82 seconds, while Nepal Police team of Amrit Bot, Sahan Chandra Shah, Tek Bahadur Karki and Arun Mahato Tharu won bagged bronze in 3 minutes and 29.35 seconds.
