Tribhuvan Army Club has won gold in women's basketball, beating Bagmati Province in the competition under the ninth National Games.

TAC defeated Bagmati by 45-30 points in Wednesday's final at Nirmal School in Tanahun.

TAC led the opening quarter 10-8 and extended that to 24-15 in the second. Although Bagmati dominated the third quarter to narrow the deficit within five points at 32-27, the Army stepped up the gears to add 13 points to Bagmati’s three in the fourth quarter to secure the gold medal. Pratishka Magar scored 11 points and Atisha Malla Thakuri scored eight points for TAC.

In a play-off for the bronze medal, Gandaki defeated Sudurpaschim 46-24. Gandaki, who took the first quarter 16-9, raced to 26-13 in the second.

They also dominated the third quarter to open up an 18-point lead at 38-20 and added another eight points to Sudurpaschim’s four in the fourth to complete the win. Gandaki’s Seema Garbuja top scored with 19 points in the play-off victory.

APF triumph in women's 3x3 basketball

Meanwhile, the Armed Police Force claimed the women’s 3x3 basketball tile. They beat TAC by 8-5 points. Akriti Shrestha was the top scorer for APF with three points. Gandaki defeated Bagmati 11-7 for bronze.
