The Armed Police Force won gold medal in the women's football with a with a 2-1 victory over Nepal Police Club in the competition final on Thursday under the ninth National Games.
In the match at Walling, Syangja on the event's final day, Sabitra 'Samba' Bhandari scored both goals in the final. With that Bhandari took her tournament’s tally to 14 goals. Niru Thapa scored a consolation for NPC.
This is the third consecutive title that APF have won the women’s football gold at the National Games. APF defeated another departmental side Tribhuvan Army Club 1-0 in the semi-finals, while Nepal Police dispatched Province 1 with a comfortable 3-0 margin.
Army settle for bronze
Earlier, Amisha Karki scored a hat-trick to lead TAC to the bronze medal in the women’s football after a 7-0 demolition of Province 1.
In a play-off held at Syangja Walling on Thursday, captain Hima Chaudhary, Chandra Bhandari and Kusum Khatiwada scored others goals in the convincing Army win.
