An 11-year-old girl was killed in a leopard attack on Friday morning in Sisneghari, Bandipur Rural Municipality-3 of Tanahun. 

Bina Chepang was attacked in the neck by a leopard at Saalghari while she was on the way to her aunt's house, spokesperson for Bandipur Rural Municipality Shivkumar Shrestha said. The incident took place around 6:30 am.

"The distance from her home to her aunt’s is 200 metres. Saalghari lies on the way. A leopard attacked 50 metres from the aunt's house," Shrestha said. The girl was a grade 5 student at Janata Primary School in the same ward.

Incidents of leopard attacks have increased of late in Bandipur. This June, a child was killed, and two others were injured in a leopard attack. Five-year-old Suprim Bagale Magar of Bandipur-1 was killed in the attack, eight-year-old Riana Thapa of Bandipur Rural Municipality-4 and 35-year-old Bhimalal Garanja of Bandipur Rural Municipality-1 Baghdale were injured in the attack.

Over the past few years, more people have been injured or killed in leopard attacks in Tanahun. Twelve children have lost their lives due to leopard attacks. Most of the pard attack victims were children under 12 years of age.
