The total count of dengue cases in Chitwan has crossed 2,000, the District Health Office, Chitwan has confirmed. Of 8,853 people screened for dengue fever, 2,164 tested positive for the disease this fiscal year.
According to District Health Office Information Officer Ram KC, 1,451 of those testing positive for the disease are from Chitwan. Out of them, 629 are women. The office said 454 infected people were from other districts, and 259 others did not disclose their addresses. The district has recorded three deaths due to dengue infection in that period.
With 978 confirmed cases, the Bharatpur Metropolitan City has the highest number of dengue cases among seven municipalities in the district, according to KC. Ratna Nagar Municipality followed with 197 cases, Khaireni Municipality (124), Rapti (79), Kalika (37), and Madi (28).
Meanwhile, eight people have tested positive for dengue in Ichchakamana Rural Municipality. Warning that dengue infection may still occur for some time, the office has called on everyone to take preventive measures. - RSS
