Elections 2022

The Election Commission has announced that 100 voting centres would be made disabled-friendly for the upcoming parliamentary and provincial elections scheduled on November 20.

According to the commission, the officials mobilised in those centres will be provided with an orientation regarding the use of sign language. The voting centres will also have a sign language index.

Similarly, braille materials and voting techniques will be provided for visually-impaired voters.

The commission will also construct wheelchair-friendly ramps, colourful poles with ropes, and tables and chairs for people with disabilities to benefit physically challenged voters.

The commission had received many complaints over the inconvenience and discomfort faced by people with disabilities due to the lack of disabled-friendly facilities in the previous election. Many voters refused to go to the voting centres to cast their vote due to unfriendly election centres.
