Nepal Minute - out of the ordinary

Travel & Tourism

Kanyam, a hamlet near the Mechi Highway famous among tourists for its sprawling tea estates in Ilam district, has added another attraction - a skywalk.

The facility, which the developers claim to be the country's first, will be opened to the public on Friday.

Developed by Kanyam Cloud Pvt Ltd at Rs 40 million, the facility allows visitors in this popular tourist hub to walk over a glass, offering 360-degree views of beautiful surroundings, including the tea garden and mountain.

"A glass platform measuring four metres wide and seven meters long has been built for tourists to walk and sightseeing," said Sanjeev Roka, the project engineer.

The project is expected to add Kanyam as a new adventure tourist destination and thereby increase the number of tourists to the town, he said. - RSS
